  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 2 cups granulated sugar, divided
  • ¾ cup water

Instructions

  1. Rinse the cranberries and remove any stems or damaged berries.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine water and 1 cup of sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Remove from heat and add the cranberries. Stir to coat, then cover the saucepan and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or up to overnight.
  4. Drain the cranberries in a colander. Discard the sugar syrup.
  5. Place the remaining 1 cup of sugar in a bowl. Add the drained cranberries and toss to coat evenly.
  6. Spread the sugared cranberries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let them dry for at least 1 hour, or until the sugar coating is firm and dry.
  7. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

For a beautiful presentation, thread the sugared cranberries onto skewers or use them to garnish cakes and desserts. Store leftover sugared cranberries in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
