French toast sticks

French toast sticks are crispy, golden strips of bread soaked in a cinnamon-spiced egg mixture, perfect for dipping and a fun twist on classic French toast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices thick Texas toast or white bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter or oil for frying
  • Maple syrup for serving

Instructions

  1. Cut each bread slice into 4 long sticks.
  2. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, sugar, and salt until smooth.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a bit of butter or oil.
  4. Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, coating evenly.
  5. Place sticks in the hot skillet and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Remove from skillet and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve warm with maple syrup for dipping.

Notes

For extra crispiness, sprinkle the sticks lightly with powdered sugar or serve with fresh berries alongside.
