Breakfast Pop Tarts

Delight in these homemade Breakfast Pop Tarts featuring flaky pastry filled with sweet fruit jam, perfect for a quick and delicious morning treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet refrigerated pie crust
  • 1/2 cup fruit jam or preserves (any flavor)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar (optional, for icing)
  • 1 teaspoon milk (optional, for icing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the pie crust sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut into 8 equal rectangles.
  3. Place 4 rectangles on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of jam in the center of each.
  4. Brush the edges of the rectangles with the beaten egg wash (egg mixed with water).
  5. Top each jam-filled rectangle with a remaining rectangle, pressing the edges firmly to seal.
  6. Use a fork to crimp the edges and poke a few holes in the top for steam to escape.
  7. Brush the tops with more egg wash for a golden finish.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool slightly. If desired, mix powdered sugar with milk to make a simple icing and drizzle over the cooled pop tarts.

Notes

For extra flavor, try using different jams or add a pinch of cinnamon to the jam filling before sealing. Serve warm with a side of fresh fruit or yogurt.
