Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper; cook for another 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. Slowly add the heavy cream while stirring to combine.
  6. Allow the sauce to simmer gently for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to your desired consistency.
  7. Taste and season with salt and black pepper as needed.
  8. Optional: Stir in chopped fresh parsley for added color and freshness.
  9. Serve immediately over grilled chicken, shrimp, pasta, or vegetables.

Notes

For a spicier sauce, increase the cayenne pepper slightly or add a dash of hot sauce. This sauce also pairs wonderfully with blackened fish or roasted vegetables.
