Cajun Sausage Pasta is a flavorful, creamy dish combining spicy sausage with tender pasta and Cajun seasonings, perfect for a hearty weeknight dinner.

  • 8 oz penne pasta
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 12 oz Cajun sausage, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced Cajun sausage and cook until browned, about 4-5 minutes.
  3. Add diced onion, red and green bell peppers to the skillet, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Sprinkle Cajun seasoning and smoked paprika over the sausage and vegetables, stirring to coat evenly.
  6. Pour in the heavy cream and chicken broth, stirring to combine. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
  7. Add cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce.
  8. Stir in grated Parmesan cheese and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  9. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For added heat, sprinkle extra Cajun seasoning or serve with hot sauce. This dish pairs well with a crisp green salad.
