Delicious Chewy Protein Bagels

These chewy protein bagels are a delicious and satisfying way to boost your protein intake. Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a post-workout snack!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (120g) vital wheat gluten
  • 1 scoop (30g) vanilla protein powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (240ml) plain Greek yogurt, nonfat
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Everything bagel seasoning, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, vital wheat gluten, protein powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the Greek yogurt and mix until a dough forms. It will be sticky.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  5. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope about 8 inches long.
  6. Bring the ends of each rope together to form a bagel shape, pinching the ends to seal.
  7. Place the bagels on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Brush the bagels with the beaten egg and sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a sweeter bagel, add 1-2 tablespoons of your favorite sweetener to the dough. You can also experiment with different protein powder flavors!
