Chicken Kofta Meatballs

Deliciously spiced chicken kofta meatballs infused with aromatic herbs and warm spices, perfect as a flavorful appetizer or main dish.

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, turmeric, chili flakes, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Add the beaten egg and breadcrumbs to the mixture, then mix thoroughly until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Fry the meatballs in batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.
  6. Remove meatballs and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauce or with rice and salad.

Notes

For extra flavor, try grilling the kofta meatballs instead of frying them, and serve with a cooling yogurt sauce.
