Classic chocolate chip cookies with a perfect balance of crispy edges and chewy centers, loaded with rich chocolate chips for a timeless treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (220g) packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups (340g) semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the butter mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips evenly.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown around the edges but still soft in the center.
  9. Remove from oven and allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For a softer cookie, reduce baking time by 1-2 minutes, or add a tablespoon of cornstarch to the dry ingredients for extra tenderness.
