Chocolate Orange Cheesecake: A Delicious Fusion

  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1/2 cup melted dark chocolate, for drizzling
  • Orange slices, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine cookie crumbs and melted butter. Press into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan.
  3. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Beat in vanilla extract and orange extract.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in heavy cream, orange juice, and orange zest.
  5. Pour batter over crust.
  6. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until the center is just set.
  7. Turn off oven and let cheesecake cool in the oven for 1 hour with the door slightly ajar.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool completely. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
  9. Drizzle with melted dark chocolate and garnish with orange slices, if desired.
  10. Carefully remove the sides of the springform pan before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use high-quality dark chocolate. You can also add a layer of chocolate ganache on top of the cheesecake after baking and cooling.
