These Christmas Cranberry Orange Cookies are the perfect festive treat! Chewy and bursting with bright citrus and tart cranberries, they’re sure to be a holiday favorite.

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the dried cranberries and nuts (if using).
  7. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar, if desired.

Notes

For a softer cookie, underbake slightly. You can also add white chocolate chips for extra sweetness.
