Crab Boil Recipe

This classic crab boil is packed with flavor and perfect for feeding a crowd! A medley of seafood, sausage, and vegetables simmered in a spicy broth creates a memorable and delicious experience.

  • 12 cups water
  • 1 (3 ounce) package crab boil seasoning
  • 4 teaspoons salt
  • 2 pounds small red potatoes
  • 4 large onions, quartered
  • 4 ears corn, each cut into 3 pieces
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, cut into 2 inch pieces
  • 4 pounds snow crab legs, thawed if frozen
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • Lemon wedges, for serving
  • Cocktail sauce, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large stockpot or crab boil pot, bring the water, crab boil seasoning, and salt to a boil over high heat.
  2. Add the potatoes and onions to the pot. Cook for 15 minutes.
  3. Add the corn and sausage to the pot. Cook for 10 minutes.
  4. Add the crab legs to the pot. Cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Add the shrimp to the pot. Cook until the shrimp turns pink and opaque, about 3-5 minutes.
  6. Drain the pot and transfer the crab boil to a large serving platter or newspapers spread on a table.
  7. Serve immediately with lemon wedges and cocktail sauce, if desired.

Notes

For an extra kick, add a bottle of hot sauce to the boiling water. You can also customize the ingredients by adding other seafood like mussels or clams, or vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms.
