Creamed Spinach

Creamed Spinach is a rich, velvety side dish made with fresh spinach and a creamy sauce, perfect for pairing with steak or roasted meats.

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound fresh spinach, washed and tough stems removed
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add the spinach in batches, stirring until wilted.
  4. Pour in heavy cream and stir to combine.
  5. Sprinkle in Parmesan cheese and nutmeg; cook for 3-5 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Remove from heat and serve warm.

Notes

For extra richness, stir in a splash of cream cheese or a pinch of cayenne pepper for a subtle kick.
