Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 pound scallops
  • 1/2 pound white fish fillets (cod or haddock), cut into chunks
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and sauté onion and garlic until translucent.
  3. Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in milk and cream, cooking until the sauce thickens.
  5. Add nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and stir in half the Gruyère cheese until melted.
  6. Combine shrimp, scallops, and fish chunks in a baking dish. Pour the creamy sauce over the seafood.
  7. Sprinkle remaining Gruyère, Parmesan cheese, and breadcrumbs evenly on top.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden and bubbling.
  9. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of white wine to the sauce or serve with a crisp green salad for a balanced meal.
