Crispy Chilli Beef

This Crispy Chilli Beef is a takeout favorite made at home! Thin strips of beef are fried until crispy and coated in a sweet and spicy chilli sauce.

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil, for frying
  • For the Sauce:
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp sriracha
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 green onion, sliced, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the sliced beef, cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Fry the beef in batches until crispy and golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, honey, sriracha, ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  5. Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in the skillet over medium heat. Pour in the sauce and bring to a simmer, stirring constantly until slightly thickened, about 1-2 minutes.
  6. Add the crispy beef to the sauce and toss to coat.
  7. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

Serve Crispy Chilli Beef with steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal. For extra flavor, add a splash of sesame oil to the sauce.
