This Double Chocolate Banana Bread is moist, decadent, and bursting with rich chocolate flavor. Ripe bananas and cocoa powder create a perfect balance of sweetness and indulgence in every slice.

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup chocolate chips, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Add the mashed bananas and milk to the wet ingredients and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in 3/4 cup of the chocolate chips.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup chocolate chips on top.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips or add a tablespoon of coffee granules to the batter. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.
