Freshly prepared garlic bread on white plate

A classic Italian-inspired side dish featuring crusty bread slathered with a herbed garlic butter spread and baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of crusty Italian bread
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional: 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
  3. Slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise.
  4. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
  5. If desired, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the buttered bread.
  6. Place the bread on a baking sheet, cut side up.
  7. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the butter is melted and bubbly.
  8. Optionally, switch to broil for 1-2 minutes to achieve extra crispiness but watch carefully to avoid burning.
  9. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

For an extra burst of flavor, add a sprinkle of red pepper flakes or fresh basil before serving.
