  • For the frosting:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • Sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  6. Drop cookie dough by rounded tablespoons onto prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 9–11 minutes or until edges are set but centers are soft.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. To make frosting, beat butter until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar.
  10. Mix in vanilla extract and heavy cream until smooth and spreadable.
  11. Frost cooled cookies and decorate with sprinkles as desired.

Notes

For extra softness, store cookies in an airtight container with a slice of bread to keep them moist for several days.
