  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Red food coloring (optional)

  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with heart-shaped cupcake liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. If desired, add a few drops of red food coloring to the batter for a pink hue.
  7. Fill the heart-shaped cupcake liners about 2/3 full.
  8. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cupcakes cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once cooled, frost with your favorite frosting and decorate with sprinkles, if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a tablespoon of cocoa powder to the batter for chocolate heart cupcakes. You can also use different colored frosting and sprinkles to customize your cupcakes for any holiday or theme.
