Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef ribeye or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp rice wine or mirin
  • Optional: sliced onions and bell peppers for grilling

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice wine, black pepper, and half of the green onions.
  2. Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade and mix to coat thoroughly. Marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator.
  3. Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
  4. If using, toss sliced onions and bell peppers with a little oil and grill alongside the beef.
  5. Grill the marinated beef slices for 2-3 minutes per side until cooked through and slightly caramelized.
  6. Remove from the grill and sprinkle with sesame seeds and remaining green onions.
  7. Serve hot with steamed rice and kimchi or your favorite sides.

Notes

For extra flavor, let the beef marinate overnight, and serve with fresh lettuce leaves for wrapping to enjoy a traditional Korean BBQ experience.
