This Loaded Green Bean Casserole elevates the classic side dish with crispy bacon, caramelized onions, and a rich, creamy sauce. It’s the perfect comforting addition to any holiday or weeknight meal.

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans green beans, drained
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups French fried onions, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until caramelized and golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, combine green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, black pepper, crumbled bacon, and caramelized onions. Mix well.
  4. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese and 1/2 cup of French fried onions.
  5. Pour mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Top with remaining 1 cup of French fried onions.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until heated through and bubbly.
  8. Let stand for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the green bean mixture. Serve immediately for the best crispy onion topping.
