  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon flavor extract (vanilla, cherry, or lemon)
  • Food coloring of choice
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water over medium heat.
  2. Stir until sugar dissolves, then stop stirring and bring mixture to a boil.
  3. Use a candy thermometer to cook mixture until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  4. Remove from heat and carefully stir in flavor extract and food coloring.
  5. Pour the hot syrup onto a greased silicone mat or parchment paper and let cool slightly.
  6. Once cool enough to handle, stretch and pull the candy to create a glossy, magic candy texture.
  7. Break into bite-sized pieces and dust with powdered sugar to prevent sticking.

Notes

For added flavor, sprinkle a pinch of edible glitter or finely crushed nuts on the candy before it fully sets.
