No-Added-Sugar Sugared Cranberries

These vibrant, no-added-sugar sugared cranberries are a festive and healthy treat. Naturally sweetened with a sugar alternative, they’re perfect for snacking or garnishing desserts and cocktails.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1/4 cup erythritol (or your preferred sugar substitute)
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 cup erythritol (or your preferred sugar substitute), for coating

Instructions

  1. Rinse the cranberries and pick out any soft or damaged ones.
  2. In a saucepan, combine 1/4 cup erythritol and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the erythritol is dissolved.
  3. Add the cranberries to the saucepan and stir to coat.
  4. Remove the cranberries from the saucepan with a slotted spoon and place them on a wire rack. Let them dry for at least 1 hour, or until they are no longer sticky.
  5. Place the remaining 1/2 cup erythritol in a shallow dish.
  6. Roll the cranberries in the erythritol until they are completely coated.
  7. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

For a more intense flavor, try adding a teaspoon of citrus zest to the sugar coating. Orange or lemon zest works particularly well.
