Peppermint Meltaway Cookies

These Peppermint Meltaway Cookies are delicate, buttery, and melt in your mouth. Infused with peppermint flavor and topped with a dusting of powdered sugar, they’re the perfect holiday treat.

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar, plus more for dusting
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the cornstarch and peppermint extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Gently fold in the crushed peppermint candies.
  7. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Dust the cooled cookies generously with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For a more intense peppermint flavor, add a few drops of red food coloring to the dough.
