This Sour Cream and Onion Chicken is a flavorful and easy weeknight dinner. A creamy, tangy coating of sour cream and onion soup mix transforms ordinary chicken into a family favorite.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Chopped fresh chives for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the dry onion soup mix and sour cream.
  3. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  4. Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Sear chicken breasts in the skillet for 2-3 minutes per side, until lightly browned.
  6. Remove skillet from heat and spread the sour cream and onion mixture evenly over the chicken breasts.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  8. Garnish with chopped fresh chives, if desired, and serve.

Notes

Serve with a side of roasted vegetables or mashed potatoes for a complete meal. For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in the sour cream mixture for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
