  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine mashed sweet potatoes, granulated sugar, eggs, milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Mix until smooth.
  3. Pour the sweet potato mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, chopped pecans, and softened butter until crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle the pecan topping evenly over the sweet potato layer.
  6. Bake in preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the casserole is heated through.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the sweet potato mixture or substitute pecans with walnuts. Serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream or marshmallows for a sweeter touch.
