Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 4-6 tablespoons ice water
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough just comes together. Form the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a 12-inch circle. Transfer the dough to a 9-inch pie plate. Crimp the edges.
  5. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  6. Stir in the pecan halves and chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.
  9. Let cool completely before serving.
