Tuna Noodle Casserole is a comforting, classic American dish combining tender noodles, savory tuna, and creamy sauce baked to perfection. It’s a quick and satisfying meal perfect for family dinners.

  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • 2 cups cooked tuna, drained
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, peas, tuna, chopped onion, and mushrooms if using. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Add cooked noodles to the mixture and gently stir to combine.
  5. Transfer mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  7. Dot the casserole with butter pieces for added richness.
  8. Bake uncovered for 25 minutes until bubbly and cheese is melted.
  9. Remove casserole from oven and sprinkle crispy fried onions on top.
  10. Return to the oven and bake an additional 5 minutes until onions are golden brown.
  11. Let casserole stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra creaminess, mix in 1/4 cup sour cream before baking. Serve with a side salad for a well-rounded meal.
