whipped ricotta dip

This whipped ricotta dip is a creamy, light, and flavorful appetizer perfect for entertaining or snacking, blending ricotta cheese with fresh herbs and a hint of lemon zest.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: red pepper flakes for a bit of heat

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, olive oil, lemon zest, lemon juice, and minced garlic.
  2. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, whip the mixture on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
  3. Fold in the chopped fresh basil, then season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  4. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and drizzle a little olive oil on top; sprinkle with red pepper flakes if desired.
  5. Serve immediately with crostini, fresh vegetables, or crackers, or refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

For an extra twist, try swirling in some honey or roasted red peppers for a sweet or smoky flavor variation.
